Kanöot was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as BSU Campus Minister Intern with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, a Journeyman with the International Mission Board, SBC, and a Praxis Church Planter with the North American Mission Board. Before coming to Mount Vernon in 2002, he was on staff at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisana. He and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Fisher and Faith.
