The Counseling Ministry at Mount Vernon Baptist Church is staffed with Master's level professionals who are committed to combining Biblical truth with clinical skills. Working with individuals of all ages including children, adolescents, young adults, couples, and families, it is the goal of this ministry to help individuals make progress in their spiritual growth as well as bringing hope and healing in the area of emotional and mental health. Some of the issues addressed are: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and marital challenges, infidelity, divorce, parenting, addictive behaviors, codependency, as well as other life struggles and transitions. Our therapists are nationally certified and state licensed professionals. Confidentiality and privacy are not only of great importance to our counseling staff but are protected by federal and state laws as well. Tammie launched the counseling ministry in February 2009 following an internship with the Calvary Baptist Church Counseling Ministry in Winston-Salem. Drawing on personal life experience, twelve successful years in management and human resources, and a commitment to serve God as an instrument of hope and healing, Tammie provides insight into the needs of others.

Robert Wolf, MA, MDiv, LMFT
NOTICE: Bob Wolf is not available for appointments at this time. He is on medical leave from the Counseling Ministry and would appreciate your prayers for his health.
Robert (Bob) Wolf joined our counseling ministry in the fall of 2009. He is an ordained minister and a former Marine combat veteran of the Vietnam era. Across the past 25 years he has counseled individuals, couples and families in a variety of settings ranging from personal and marital enrichment to crisis situations. Bob has served the High Country bringing hope and healing through couples and marriage therapy and previously served the foster care and adoptive community in the area of trauma and attachment. Jennifer Greene, MA, LPCA
Jennifer joined our counseling ministry in July 2010. In addition to serving as a counselor in our counseling ministry, Jennifer will continue to work part time as a Spiritual Director with short-term, in-house residents at His High Places in Boone, NC.

Counseling sessions are scheduled for fifty (50) minutes and are generally limited to eight to ten sessions per client. Appointments are scheduled to meet both the client’s schedule as well as the counselor’s availability. A suggested donation of $25 per session is greatly appreciated to support the ministry. Priority will be given to Mount Vernon members and regular attendees of Sunday School and other ministries. There may be occasions when Mount Vernon may offer the Counseling Ministry to others in the High Country based on counselor availability. A suggested donation of $40 per session for non-members is also greatly appreciated to support the ministry. |

John Padgett, MA, Clinical Psychology, Ordained Minister
John and his wife Annette are the founders of Living Hope Ministries, a non-profit ministry in the heart of Boone.
John brings passion, wisdom and knowledge of God's Word into the support ministry of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. We are blessed to have John working with us. John graduated with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from ASU and has experience working in a community mental health setting. He has been an ordained minister for 11 years and has served in several capacities on a local church level from associate pastor, staff support, home group leader to benevolence coordinator. John has theological training from Grace Presbyterian School of Ministry and has certifications from both Elijiah House and Shiloh Place Ministries.
